Dale Tuggy will debate Michael Brown on the question: “Is the God of the Bible the Father Alone?” at Fire Church, Concord, North Carolina on January 11 at 7pm. There is no charge for this event. Please attend if you can make it. This is an opportunity to hear both sides of this very important issue.
Dr. Dale Tuggy is the host of trinities.org, which includes a podcast and a blog where he explores theology, church history, and analytic philosophy. After studying the various Trinity theories for years, Tuggy concluded the the strict monotheistic position that the Father is the only true God fits the bible better than any of them. (Listen to his journey of faith.) After more than a decade of research, Tuggy came out with his What Is the Trinity? book in 2017, clarifying and delineating the various trinity theories as well as offering a gentle critique. (Listen to an interview about the book.) He taught philosophy of religion at the State University of New York at Fredonia from 2000 to 2018. Additionally, he’s launched a new podcast, “Thinking about Religion” in which he interviews various experts and scholars about major religions. He holds a Ph. D. in Philosophy from Brown University and has published numerous scholarly articles including the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy article on the Trinity. He attends and occasionally teaches at Higher Ground Church near Nashville, TN, a congregation within the Church of God General Conference.
Dr. Michael Brown is the founder and president of FIRE School of Ministry in Concord, North Carolina, Director of the Coalition of Conscience, and host of the daily, nationally, syndicated talk radio show, the Line of Fire, as well as the host of the apologetics TV show, “Answering Your Toughest Questions,” which airs on the NRB TV network. He became a believer in Jesus 1971 as a sixteen year-old, heroin-shooting, LSD-using Jewish rock drummer. Since then, he has preached throughout America and around the world, bringing a message of repentance, revival, reformation, and cultural revolution. He holds a Ph.D. in Near Eastern Languages and Literatures from New York University and has served as a visiting or adjunct professor at several colleges. He has contributed numerous articles to scholarly publications, including the Oxford Dictionary of Jewish Religion and the Theological Dictionary of the Old Testament. Dr. Brown is the author of more than 30 books, including, the five-volume series, Answering Jewish Objections to Jesus.

These are two highly trained bible scholars who have thought deeply about the question of Jesus’ deity for many years. They are both committed to the authority and trustworthiness of scripture so I suspect this will be a very biblical debate. Who do you think will win the debate? Do you think you will make it to Concord, NC to watch in person?
Totally stoked about this debate, it’s a couple of hours away but so worth it.
