424 One God 14: One God Today

This is part 14 of the One God Over All class.

After a brief sketch of one God believers throughout time, we’ll consider how well positioned we are today to publish this truth. We may be few, but we are mighty, motivated, and making a difference! Additionally, we’ll consider a few important questions like (1) How can unitarianism be right if most Christians are trinitarian? (2) Shouldn’t I stay “in the closet” if so I don’t get excluded, mocked, or persecuted? (3) What are some good books to dig deeper? and (4) How can you support the cause? This is our last episode in this class. I hope it has served you well and that you will share it with your friends.

  • You are so optomistic about persecution of Biblical Unitarians. Non Catholic believers will be the first on the list. Unitarians will be first of these, because they are not trinitarians.
Our neighbors all know, that we are Christians. They are cordial, but not very friendly. We have had this problem for 50 years. (We were saved and spirit filled in 1971.) At that time our family and neighbors were very spiteful, because of our new found faith. It wasn’t Catholic, Lutheran, or any other trinitarian denomination. Eventually, they half way accepted us as those crazy relatives or neighbors.
I love your teaching, Sean. God bless you, my son.

  • Dear Sean….you are so knowledgeable and with that, you make it understandable, easy to absorb. Thank you

  • Dear Unitarian brother,

You forgot to mention that from the 7th century AD Muslims are the largest Unitarian Community who believe Jesus Christ (Masih Isa)to be a man born of Mary (ibn Mariam), the Servant of the One God. Of course they do not believe everything in the Holy Catholic Bible, but neither do different Christian unitarians.

  • Hi Sean, thanks for this great series, I have thoroughly enjoyed it.

First off, regarding the listener question about blasphemy of the spirit, I think I got a great source that is somewhat related. In the Didache we find the following…
”And every prophet who speaks in the Spirit you shall neither try nor judge; for every sin shall be forgiven, but this sin shall not be forgiven.”

It’s not talking about speaking in tongues, but it’s fairly close. Anyway I agree that your advice is wise, to not say it’s of the devil or any such thing.

As for new content ideas, now that I’ve already mentioned it, why not delve into the Didache (or similar early texts) a bit? As a restorationist, I bet you’ll be amazed by the insights it brings into the very early church (probably 1st century). Furthermore, it was a Jewish community that wrote it, so that also brings in some useful perspectives. Finally, it also seems to be quite unitarian, which is definitely exciting.

Another subject that I think would be really interesting is Halacha, or biblical law. A subject that’s pretty much entirely ignored in Christianity, unjustly in my opinion.

I also have a question for you, would you know where one might be able to obtain an English copy of the “Library of the Polish Brethren called Unitarians”? I know you’ve referenced it from time to time, but I’m not sure such an edition even exists and I don’t read Latin. If it doesn’t, perhaps a good suggestion for the uca?

    Many blessings, Mark

  • Dear Sean

Thank you so much for this One God Over All series. I really enjoyed it and will probably share it with some of my trinitarian friends. Recently I read some disturbing article that Yahweh was actually a Canaanite or Midianite god, part of a pantheon, before he was chosen by the Israelites to be their only God.
Could someone show me some serious material for further study to get reassured that these claims are not trustworthy? I would greatly appreciate it!

Thank you very much and blessings from Switzerland,
    Pascal
