630. Australia to Host Inaugural UCA Conference

Today we’re promoting a couple of upcoming events in 2026. First up is the inaugural conference near Sydney, Australia for the Unitarian Christian Alliance. This will be a weekend of scholarly presentations as well as practical workshops. In what follows I chat with several of the organizers for the event, including Matthew Bradley, Jeff Deuble, Andrew and Vivienne Johnstone, Ali Steer, and Kerry Weinholz. After that we’ll hear some comments on recent episodes and then I’ll give information about our upcoming winter event here in New York, called Revive. I hope I can see you at one of these events, or some other time in 2026.

  • Really looking forward to the UCA conference in Sydney in 2026. A great chance to network.

Completely agree with Sean on “Christ Before Creeds” being probably the best witnessing resource for monotheism out there at the moment. I have bought quite a few copies in the last few years and given them away. For those needing more convincing and a deeper dive into scripture’s monotheistic message, I really like Kermit’s Zarley’s “The Restitution: Biblical proof that Jesus is not God”.

I have NO problem with any “clone” theories as I COMPLETELY reject the unbiblical doctrine of “soul sleep” and therefore any reconstruction clone or copy type foundations for resurrected believers are not even a possibility. “Soul sleep” was first taught by some post-apostolic Church Fathers, and then much later by Seventh-day Adventists, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Christadelphians, and some Hebrew Roots groups. I see those promoting “soul sleep” as being very selective and biased in their treatment of scripture (saying this is literal, that is metaphorical … on whose authority?) This is similar to the “eisegesis” many use when promoting various unscriptural Trinity and Oneness understandings of God.

Christophanies and the “Angel of the Lord” … I struggled with this one too initially in coming out of Trinitarianism. Completely agree that “agency” is the answer.

Love the way Sean addresses Trinitarian’s interpretation of John 1:1. Short and simple. THUMBS UP!
