He Gets Us Because He’s One of Us

Can Jesus relate to us? In a major ad campaign called “He Gets Us,” the artful message is clear: Jesus understands us, which is why he’s as relevant and attractive as ever.  Here are a few of their videos:

Dinner Party: Jesus was radically inclusive

The Rebel: Jesus knew how it felt to be falsely judged

Many more of these videos are available here.

But, you should ask yourself the question, “If Jesus is God, does he really get us?” Of course most Christians believe (at least, they’re supposed to believe) that Jesus is both God and Man at the same time. But, if that’s true, is he really like us? Does he really get us? Can he really sympathize with us if he cannot sin due to his divine nature? Can he really understand doubt and anxiety if he’s omniscient and omnipotent? The Unitarian Christian Alliance is putting out some interesting videos taking the “He Gets Us” campaign to the next level. The point is simple: “He Gets Us Because He’s One of Us.” Here are some of the new videos:

The Influencer: The Romans cancelled Jesus, but God uncancelled him!

Tears: Jesus  wept too because he’s one of us

The Rebel: Jesus was wrongly judged as God

Jesus as “truly God”?

If you’re curious about how to understand Jesus as a human being rather than a God-man, check out our class One God Over All on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or YouTube. This 14-part class works through scripture to build a biblical theology of the one true God and his Son, Jesus the Messiah. This class will cover both texts supporting God’s exclusive oneness as well as misunderstood verses that seem to teach otherwise. Additionally, we will briefly explore how Christian theology developed from the New Testament period to the Trinity’s full articulation at the Council of Constantinople in a.d. 381.
