The Real Mount Sinai?

The traditional site for Mount Sinai is on the Sinai peninsula in Egypt, where the Red Sea forks into two gulfs.  On this spot is St. Catherine’s Monastery, one of the oldest working Christian monasteries on the planet (founded around ad 550).

However, some researches have identified a second site as a possible location.  The new site is Jebel al Lawz in Saudi Arabia.  A number of people have attempted to visit this site only to be confronted with a disappointing perimeter fence around the entire mountain.

In this video (below) Ryan Mauro makes his way to the new site and takes video footage, including drone footage, of the place.  Although this is a low budget video, he makes some tantalizing points about key features that match really well with the biblical sources.

What do you think?  Could this be the correct location for Mount Sinai?

  • Fascinating. There must be some evidence left of millions of Israelites in the desert 40 years. There’s a lot of archeology begging to be done in that part of the world.

  • Paul Said in Galatians 4:25 Now this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia and corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for she is enslaved with her children. So according to the Bible Mt. Sinai IS in Arabia, not Egypt
