  • Certainly the experiences of our upbringing have an effect on shaping our personalities. When we react adversely to a difficult/trying situation which crops up in our lives, when the dust has settled we wonder why we reacted that way which is contrary to our Christian way of live. Then we realise it’s as a result of echoes of our past, and we determine to do better next time. (1 Thess 5:17)

We cannot change the past, but one of the ways we can learn from it is through present trials and suffering which bring to the surface the floors in our personality (1 Pet 1:6-7). Also through our own suffering and shortcomings/mistakes, we better understand those of others.
